The owners of this home called for my help when they barely moved in.
They have chosen not to bring their old kitchen or living room furniture, so for me, it was like a new canvas, I loved it!
When we first met, we spoke about their likes, the wife's mostly ;) trying to identify their style and their functional needs as a family.
Pinterest and Houzz are an excellent resource to collect ideas of what you love. It helps me so much to narrow down your style and perhaps even, what you have already envisioned for your home.
We then talked about the time frame, how soon it needs to be done and of course the budget!
Although in my experience, most people have no idea how much it will cost, it is still an important part to talk about. I am then able to guide you and let you know if your budget is realistic and what stores we can shop at, to create the look you are after.
I then requested them to email me a floor plan of the house and I also measured some rooms.
After about 1-2 weeks I came up with space planning and preliminary idea board. It is at this point that we saw if we are going in the right direction. Tweaking took place by selecting fabrics, wood stains, and styles of furniture. Once all the elements came together and they felt good about it, we moved forward with placing an order.
The most common question is how soon will it all arrive? That varies on the vendor, but it is safe to say to plan for 8-12 weeks till the installation. Be patient, it will be worth it!!!!
This family really likes to host. So it made sense to bring in a sectional and few chairs to accommodate this. Due to space restriction, I have chosen a smaller scale sectional, allowing enough sitting space without taking all the space of the room, which most sectionals tend to do. Adding accent chairs created closure in the space and a feeling of intimacy.
Now let's talk a bit about the front room. This is the space that was a bit of a challenge. It is narrow and 1/3 of that width is a walking path from the front door to the living room.
After visiting with my client, we have come to the conclusion that the desk would be nice in there as would two chairs, for an occasional, quick visit. The lady of the house is the only girl and being run over by all the boys she has requested to have it be more feminine, thus the pink rug. I love how it all came together. It truly turned out to be a beautiful and functional room.
